From May 27th to May 30th 2021, France will host the World Kendo Championships for the third time. After holding the 1985 and 1994 championships at the Pierre de Coubertin Stadium, this time the event will take place at the Grand Dôme at Villebon-sur-Yvette.
This stadium, recently acquired by the French Judo Federation (FFJDA), corresponds perfectly to the requirements of this international competition.
We have the honor and privilege of welcoming more than 600 competitors from around the world to compete in this majestic place.
All French kenshi will do their utmost to ensure that participants and visitors enjoy these four days of international competition.
This is a great opportunity for the French National Committee of Kendo and Associated Disciplines (CNKDR) to introduce our historic martial arts to as many people as possible.
I would like to thank the International Kendo Federation (FIK), who have entrusted us with this task, and despite the special circumstances related to the pandemic, the organizing team of the 18th WKC are committed to making this event unforgettable.
Good luck to all participants and may the best athletes win, in accordance with the martial values that are dear to us!
